A Humeral Brace is used to stabilize a fracture in the upper arm while allowing motion in the forearm and hand. The brace promotes fracture healing by compressing the soft tissue in the arm to limit its motion. Promoting the recovery of Humerus fractures, the Sarmiento brace compresses your surrounding muscles and soft tissues. Its cylinder-shape provides a stabilizing force equal in all directions (circumferential compression), which limits motion at the fracture site so it can heal correctly. How do you fit a humeral fracture brace? The straps should be as tight as possible without cutting off circulation. The strap at the top of the cuff should go under the opposite arm and around the body. This strap also helps keep the brace from sliding down. If the brace slides down, have someone assist you in adjusting the brace. The distal Humerus articulates at the elbow to the radius and ulna in the forearm.
